I have worked in the creative industry all my adult life, having been a dance teacher, owner and principal of a dance school, and most recently creative arts lead in an independent trauma informed SEND school in the west country.
Witnessing first hand the enormous benefits of creativity on every aspect of a person and their life from reduced stress and anxiety, to improved physical health, and efficacy of communication and interaction, I decided to incorporate my love of creativity with proven methods of delivering mental health support. This choice led me to HICAT, where my training has equipped me with the skills to support people of all demographics.
The connection between our mental and emotional well-being, physical health and ability to live a fulfilling, happy life is so closely intertwined that when one aspect is under pressure the effects reach out to all other areas. I experienced this with my own mental health crisis and spinal issues where one was directly affecting how I coped with the other, a cycle of what felt like never ending pain, physical, emotional and mental. It is this understanding on a personal level that drives my passion for supporting those facing challenging times, offering comfort, a safe environment where self-exploration and expression opens the door to personal growth and healing.
Following my graduation I hold practitioner membership of the Complimentary Medical Association (CMA), am fully insured to practice in the UK and hold a Level 3 Mental Health First Aid certificate.
